Your relationship is important to you. Everyone cares whether or not their relationship lasts. It is true that some of us reach a burn out point with our partner and during that period we may not work as hard What often happens is we begin going our own way to keep things moving ahead.

This may escalate to the point that we seldom spend any quality time with our partner. Soon the relationship becomes stale and boring. We may find that we have completely lost touch with who our partner is and what our relationship was built on.

When we reach that point it is time to reevaluate where we are at. If you truly want your relationship to thrive and grow you will need to work at it. I always suggest that you review how your relationship started. Consider what attracted you to your partner. Try to get at least some of that back.

Now it is time to get to work. Carefully think about what your partner likes, what makes them happy. Also consider any of the little things that you used to do that perhaps time and circumstances have prevented you from doing lately. You must now find ways to fit those things in.

Bring back the romance. Believe it or not, what I find romantic may not be appealing to you at all. The concept of romance is very individualized. But by now you must know your partner. You have a good idea of what he or she considers romantic. Think about it, could it be specific clothing, or a dinner by candle light, or a soothing massage, well, I think you get the idea.

For me personally I love cuddling. And I love long conversations in the dark. I am not sure why the darkness seems more romantic to me but it does. I also like surprises and small inexpensive, but heartfelt gifts. For me, my husband is most romantic when he completely opens up to me and we look into each others eyes.

One of my friends believes that romance revolves around jewelry. To each his own. You need to know yourself and know your partner. You need to give of yourself.

I know, some people are materialistic. If that is you then that is fine. But most people find romance in other ways. Consider planning a night away for just the two of you. One night is affordable and does not take away from your normal schedule. Through in the little things that the two of you enjoy, romantic things like a picnic basket filled with unique items. This can include candles, massage oil, as well as cheeses, wine, grapes, strawberries, chocolate, or whatever pleases you and your partner.

The point is to make the night about you and your partner. Agree to leave your problems behind, just for the night and to focus on each other. Take a bubble bath together, go for a long walk and have a deep conversation. Whatever works for the two of you is what you should include.
