Are you looking for the one? Or would you like to know if the person pursuing you is the one you’re meant to be with? Some people believe that astrology, or ‘star signs’ are a good way to establish whether you have true love compatibility.

In Western astrology, otherwise known as the Zodiac, there are twelve star signs, predicated on the date of your birth. The star signs are Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces. Each star sign has a date bracket in which people fall. The idea is that the way in which the planets are aligned at the time of your birth dictates elements of your personality and can predict your destiny. It can also determine your love compatibility with members of other zodiac signs. Depending on how prominent each planet is in your ‘house’ determines the type of personality evidenced by the person born under that star sign.

An example of planet which is said to have influence over star signs and therefore love compatibility is Mars. If you believe in astrology, then Mars is quite important; its prominence in your ‘house’ at the time of birth determines what kind of lover you will be. Those with a strong influence from Mars are often quite driven in the bedroom and a masculine influence. This is tempered by Venus, who introduces the love factor in a relationship. There is always an opposing influence in astrology – how strong the opposing element is determines your drive.

So can astrology really help us to find the ultimate love compatibility? If you believe in the power of astrology then you may feel that you can use it as a tool to find love; it certainly constitutes a how-to guide. All you need to do is find out the birthday of your potential love, and you will be able to run up the love compatibility statistics in a matter of minutes. In fact, the more information you have on your love interest, the more accurately you will be able to calculate your love compatibility. Factors such as the hour of birth have an impact on astrology calculations too. It is something that you can have professionally done – if you can find out the details of his/her birth, then you can assess away!

But is it all really true? Obviously, whether or not you believe in the power of astrology has a big impact on your belief that it can help to calculate love compatibility! Belief in the power of celestial bodies stems back through many different cultures, and the belief that it can influence love compatibility is not a new idea. However, many people dismiss it as ‘pseudo science’ which has no basis in fact at all. There is limited evidence that the zodiac signs have any influence at all over our lives, and many of the horoscopes which are touted in daily newspapers have no basis in reality, or even in astrology itself. Just think – do you honestly believe that one twelfth of the population will have exactly the same thing happen to them throughout the day? So if you are looking for love compatibility, the zodiac is probably not the best source of information. You are better off getting out there and living your life in free flow!
